JUDGING PROCESS

For PDA 2011, we have chosen to conduct the entire competition online. This will allow the judges to work remotely over a period of two weeks, and will encourage more thoughtful consideration of each individual entry. Each judge will award entries on a point system, casting their vote for a piece on the scale of 1 to 10. Finalists will be decided upon an average taken from the final judge’s tally. After which, each judge will choose their respected ‘Judge’s Choice’ and comment about the selected pieces.

The winners will be showcased in the PDA online gallery, and a physical exhibition will take place in Philadelphia in May, 2011. The entire judging panel will be encouraged to attend the opening night reception. At that time, judges will be invited to publicly discuss their process and approach to selecting suitable work for inclusion in the competition.
